Swimming Lessons

Every child in our Swim Academy is taught in a safe, supported environment surrounded by caring, qualified teachers.

Your child will have the confidence to learn the skills they need and you can feel rest assured.

To allow for continuous progression and development, we run our lessons for 50 weeks of the year with 2 week break for the Christmas period. Lessons run weekly, for a total of 25 minutes of active teaching with a 5 minutes administration and change over time.

Your child’s progress is monitored and assessed at regular stages throughout the year to ensure they reach their potential. Home portal allows you to view their progress at any time.

Celtic Baby Dolphins

Give your little one the best start in the water with our Celtic Baby Dolphins Academy, specially designed for babies from birth to 3-years.

We are proud to deliver the STAs STArfish Series, part of the STA’s National Learn-to-Swim Programme. This innovative framework introduces babies to the water through six progressive awards, focusing on confidence, safety, and fun.

  • Suitable from 0-months onwards – no need for immunisations before starting
  • Lessons take place in shallow water with parents or guardians in the pool
  • Babies learn through movement, songs, and games, building trust and enjoyment
  • Skills include safe entry, floating, gentle submersion, and holding onto the poolside

Our qualified STA teachers guide you and your baby every step of the way, encouraging development at a pace that suits them. With eye contact, reassurance, and playful interaction, your baby will gain water confidence while strengthening physical, emotional, and social skills.

When ready, your child can progress seamlessly from the STArfish Awards into the STAs wider National Learn to Swim Programme (Grades 1 to 7), opening pathways to competitive swimming, lifesaving skills, or simply enjoying swimming as a lifelong activity.

Celtic Dolphins Swimming Academy

Our Celtic Dolphins Swimming Academy provides a clear pathway for children to progress through the STA National Learn to Swim Programme (Stanley 1-2, Grades 1 to 7, Fit Swim) – the UK’s most comprehensive framework for teaching swimming and water safety.

This structured programme builds confidence, technique, and essential life skills step by step:

  • Stanley 1/2: Introduction to water confidence and basic skills.
  • Grades 1 – 2: Focus on water confidence, safe entries, floating, and basic movement skills.
  • Grades 3 – 4: Develop all four strokes (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) with improved technique and stamina.
  • Grades 5 – 6: Introduce advanced aquatic skills including sculling, treading water, and basic rescue techniques.
  • Grade 7: Consolidates all skills, preparing swimmers for pathways into competitive swimming, lifesaving, water polo, artistic swimming, or simply enjoying swimming as a lifelong activity.
  • Fit Swim (STAs Bronze, Silver, Gold): Advanced skill awards following Grade 7, focusing on stroke refinement and endurance.

Each grade is supported by fun, motivating awards and certificates, encouraging children to celebrate their progress and keep moving forward.

All lessons are taught by STA qualified swimming teachers, run for 50-weeks of the year, and you can join at any time. With Celtic Dolphins, your child will not only learn to swim – they’ll also gain confidence, resilience, and skills for life.
